Iowa CISM Network is a statewide
coordinating structure which provides assistance, establishes standardized protocol,
collects service data, and assists in the education and advancement of Critical Incident Stress Management
(CISM) and
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) teams in the State.
The “Mitchell Model” of Critical
Incident Stress Management is
used for protocol of the Network. The Network encourages members to provide Critical Incident Stress
Management
services to any emergency response agency requesting assistance, maintain confidentiality and to
respect the feelings
of the individuals involved. The Network believes that members should provide immediate crisis
intervention and
encourage the use of ongoing professional counseling when indicated.
